William Henry Courtenay Sr. was born 27 Aug 1846 in Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, Georgia. He married Rose Leanna Meeks on 07 Nov 1878 in Cleveland, White County, Georgia. (These were my grandfather's parents...my grandfather was John Branham Courtenay).
ReplyDeleteWilliam Henry Courtenay Sr's father was Charles Edward Foster Courtenay, who was born in Rusper, Surrey, England on 06 Apr 1821. He moved to America and settled in Dahlonega (his father, Henry Courtenay, advised him via letters from England about farming, slaves, etc.) He was married to Nancy Cary Mangum on 14 Nov 1845. He died 31 Oct 1848, Dahlonega, Lumpkin, Georgia.
Henry Courtenay was born 13 Aug 1796 in England. He married Georgina Anne Houlditch on 11 Oct 1819, in St. James Parish, Westminster, Middlesex, England. He died 24 Sep 1860.
