comments: John Courtney married Elizabeth Verchild June 1580 (Ilfracombe Devon England)

Had 2 children John Courtney b 1592 and Jone Courtney b 1590

cannot find any info on the family between 1592 and 1713(may not be accurate) when John Courtney was born (Ilfracombe Devon England)

It is possible that John Courtney's(1713) father was called Nicholas Courtney and married to Catherine Knight.

Does anybody know anything about this family line?

comments: I have traced my Courtney Family Tree back to my third great grandfather John Courtney and his marriage to Margaret Dickson in 1797 at St Anne Soho, London. I believe some of his siblings may have gone to America.Also from an old family letter the surname may have been Courtenay. As there are many John Courtneys on Family Search I am unable to find his parents.I should be grateful for any links to John Courtney who was probably born between 1760 and 1777.

comments: Hello::

Looking for any information on a Lily Courtney b. approx. 1870 timeframe somewhere in UK. She was married to a George Alex Stewart and had two sons, born in Darjeeling, India. George Eric St. Lucien Courtney Stewart was my grandfather, b. 6/6/1886. He had one sibling, named Keith who was KOA in WW1. I believe Lily's father may have been a surgeon named Charles Frederick Courtney. Any feedback or leads, however remote are deeply appreciated.

comments: Hello
I am on the usual quest of tracing ancestors and although I seem to have several branches of the Courtenay family as my ancestors, I am currently interested in Elizabeth Courtenay ( I think born at Powderham in 1487 and died in Plympton St Mary) Elizabeths father was Philip Courtenay (born at Powderham in 1432). Elizabeth married Sir William Strode of Newnham Park Plypton. My question is about the property Elizabeth brought into the Strode family which I understand was an estate called "Lough Torr" which I think was knocked down and had Newnham Park built in it's place. any information regarding Elizabeth or her father Philip will be gratefully recieved.

To put things in Context I am a direct male descendant of the first Earl of Cork Richard Boyle and Richards 6th son Viscount Francis Boyle. Francis Boyle's son Hon richard Boyle married Elizabeth Ponsonby; Elizabeths Grandmother was Anne Strode the daugther of Sir William Strode and Elizabeth Courtenay.

Kind regards
Brett
