I am attempting to trace the lineage of one William Courtenay b. ca. 1636 at Ladock, Cornwall.
A rather sloppy profile for William Courtenay of Tremere (~1583) at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Courtenay-747 shows a reference to the society as "proof" of his son William (~1636). Since this isn't enough for real genealogy, and since no records exist for his birth, is it possible to discover what actual proof is available?
I have a vested interest here, being a descendant via the marriage of Francis Mitchell (9 Aug 1762) to Mary Cortenay (9 Jun 1764) on 10 Jun 1787 at Falmouth, Cornwall, and am attempting to rectify the tree on that site.
