ancestor: Thomas Courtney Sr.
comments: Thomas Courtney Sr. was born about 1728 in Ireland and died in the US about 1811. He married three times #1 "Daughter" Dawson who had a child, Robert, born, 1751 "near Castle Dawson". They had been married in London, England. Thomas married #2 Jane Anderson in Ireland in 1757. He married #3 Isabella Thompson in 1789. She was born in Virginia. Their son, Thomas Jr. is my ancestor. I am looking for any information as to Thomas Sr's parents or family members. Thomas Jr. married Mary Polly Cravens and had at least one child, John D who was born in Mongongalia County West Virginia. He married Catharine Rodes and married again to Eliza Ann Boyd. Among their children was Mary Elizabeth Courtney who married Samuel Horton Anderson. They were my great grandparents. I can fill in some gaps if any relatives are interested. thanks, Lynda
what year was Jane Anderson born? I think this might be my gggggg-grandparents.... any information you have on this would be REALLY helpful. I'm doing a project on the Courtneys in school and any information you'd be willing to offer would assist me greatly. Thanks! Charlotte
ReplyDeleteI know Thomas Sr and Jane Anderson's genealogy 9 generations but i can't give any info on his other offspring.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm a gggggggggggggdaughter of Thomas Courtney through Jane Anderson. I don't know Thomas's parents either, but I would like to know your sources for him and all three of his wives and their respective families. I had always heard that the Courtney line was from England and so all the Ireland connections make me curious if all the information has been verified. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just got started tracing Pinckney Lindsay Courtney's history. He is my great-grandfather through Josie Fern Courtney. She mentioned England and Ireland, but never mentioned France. The Courtneys have so many offspring as well as wives, it makes untangling the lines complicated, but I hope to succeed!

I am tracing family lines for my children, presently working on my grandmother Josie Fern Courtney's father's background. Quite a tangle with the many wives and children along with their traveling ways.
