comments: Hello
I am on the usual quest of tracing ancestors and although I seem to have several branches of the Courtenay family as my ancestors, I am currently interested in Elizabeth Courtenay ( I think born at Powderham in 1487 and died in Plympton St Mary) Elizabeths father was Philip Courtenay (born at Powderham in 1432). Elizabeth married Sir William Strode of Newnham Park Plypton. My question is about the property Elizabeth brought into the Strode family which I understand was an estate called "Lough Torr" which I think was knocked down and had Newnham Park built in it's place. any information regarding Elizabeth or her father Philip will be gratefully recieved.

To put things in Context I am a direct male descendant of the first Earl of Cork Richard Boyle and Richards 6th son Viscount Francis Boyle. Francis Boyle's son Hon richard Boyle married Elizabeth Ponsonby; Elizabeths Grandmother was Anne Strode the daugther of Sir William Strode and Elizabeth Courtenay.

Kind regards
Brett

  1. Does anyone have a connection to Lewis Courtney born in Virginia born in 1793. He died in Missouri. He has a son named Caswall Courtney born 1812 in Missouri. I don't have the name of his wife. I can't get past Lewis Courtney in my family tree. Any help is appreciated!
