 ELAINE K. COURTENAY


COURTENAY--Elaine K., 86, passed away April, 17th, 2014 in New York City. She was born in
Rochester, NY on February 4th, 1928. She was raised in Barrington, Il where she graduated
from high school. She attended Knox College in Illinois and Northwestern University before
heading to New York City. She worked for General Cable of New York and AT&T. Elaine was an
avid patron of the arts and founded Courtenay Artists, Inc., a talent agency, and she placed
many famous singers and opera stars. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James
Clark Courtenay, Jr., formerly of Louisville, KY, and her parents Mabel Barron and Charles Kerry.
She is survived by her sister Linda Truxell of Livonia, MI; brothers Warren Kerry of Daytona
Beach, FL, John Kerry of Treasure Island, FL, and several close nieces and nephews, and her
beloved Papillon dog, Coquine Posy. The family wishes to express special thanks to her
wonderful caregiver and friend, Candice Hutcherson. Services were held yesterday at the
Embry-Bosse Funeral Home, 2723 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY followed by burial at Cave
Hill Cemetery next to her beloved husband Jim. Memorial gifts may be made to Papillon Haven
