comments=I have been trying to obtain information on my Great Great Great Grandmother, Sarah Courtenay who married James Delve in Swimbridge, Devon on 27th May 1832.

Sarah and James produced three sons and a daughter, all of whom were born in the Barnstaple area within the 1830s.

My enquiries so far have proved fruitless, however, I hope that you may be able to offer some information that will confirm who the siblings, parents and grand parents of Sarah were.

I have seen several different explanations including 'Domain of Curtius' to 'short nose' (in French 'court nez').

Lewis Courtney, born 1793 in VA, emigrated to Winchester, Clark Co., KY at a young age. (I suspect Lewis is related to Thomas Courtney of K&Q Co. VA, but haven't substantiated it). Lewis's son Caswell was born 1812 in Clark Co., KY. They emigrated to Howard Co., MO around 1825. Caswell eventually established himself in Keytesville, Chariton Co., MO, while Lewis moved on to Pettis Co., MO. Caswell had a son Commodore, of Keytesville MO. Commodore had a son Walter, of Lincoln, Benton Co., MO, who had a son Lynn of Kansas City, MO.

comments= Looking for living relatives of Captain (USAF) Terence Francis Courtney, born 15 Aug 1946.

Killed in Binh Long Province, South Vietnam on 2 May 1972. He received the Air Force Cross (2nd only to the Medal of Honor). Terry was single and the only son of a widowed mother. His home of record was Skokie, IL.

Terry and I went to Flight School together at Webb AFB, TX in 1969. He would have entered the Air Force around 1968. I would like to contact a living relative so that I can tell them of the extraordinary character and valor of Terry.

I have no idea of the origin of the name, apart from what is written on this site. comments=I am interested in tracing my Courtenay family history. I live in Sydney, Australia and was born in 1982. comments=I am desperate to find somehting on Margaret Courtenay, Married to Sir Thomas Grenville, I have not been able to find anything on her on any site that I have come across.

From what I see, she cannot possibly be the daughter of Hugh & Maud.

Her "brothers" were born in 1417 & 1427 so one would presume that should be born between those years...

Can anyone help me please with something definite....

I note that on the offical Powderham site there is nothing that would solve the Mystery...
